Reenboog Koekies / Marble Butter Cookies

Hallo Almal / Hello Everyone
My Sussie het begin met ‘n Twee Weeklikse Pret Bak Kompetisie. Ek wil ook inteken vir die Kompetisie.  
My Sister started a Fortnightly Baking Fun Challenge.  I'd like to enter the challenge.
Die tema vir hierdie twee weke kompetisie is:

Ek en my Mamma het pragtige reenboog koekies gebak.
My Mother and I baked beautiful Marble Butter Cookies.
Hier is die resep (my Mamma het dit vir my getik):
The recipe (typed by my Mother):
Bestandele / Ingredients

2 3/4 koppie meel (vir speltmeel 3 en 2/3 koppies) / cups of flour (for spelt 3 2/3 cups)
3/4 t bakpoeier / baking powder
1/2 t sout / salt
275 g botter, by kamertemperatuur / butter, at cool room temperature
1 koppie fyn suiker (ons het organiese bruin suiker gebruik en dit fyn gemaak in ‘n vysel)  cup superfine or granulated sugar (we used organic brown sugar and refined it in our pestle and mortar)
1 t vanilla extract
1 eier / egg
1 eiergeel / egg yolk

Metode / Method

In ‘n bak meng saam die meel, bakpoeier en sout. / In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gebruik ‘n draadklitser, ‘n handmodel klitser of ‘n elektriese klitser om die botter, suiker en vanille saam te klits tot lig. / Using a whisk, a handheld beater, or a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, beat the butter with the sugar and vanilla until fluffy.

Klits in die eier en eiergeel. / Beat in the egg and egg yolk.
Sif die meel mengsel oor die botter mengsel. / Sift the flour mixture over the butter mixture.

Meng die meel mengsel en botter mengsel met ‘n houtlepel. Moenie ‘n handklitser gebruik nie, die mengsel is te styf.  Indien ‘n elektriese klitser gebruik word, klits net tot al die meel ingemeng is.  Begin op die stadige stelling klits, sodat meel nie oral oor vlieg nie en verhoog dan die spoed en klits vir 30 sekondes tot 1 minuut, totdat die deeg ‘n bolletjie rondom die klitser vorm.  As daar los meel in die bak le, meng dit in die deeg met ‘n plastiese spatula en klits vir ‘n verdere 15 sekondes. / Combine with a wooden spoon - don’t beat it with a handheld mixer at this point, it’s too stiff - or the stand mixer with the paddle attachment just until it’s well combined and there’s no loose flour. If you’re using a stand mixer, start on slow speed so flour doesn’t fly around, then increase the medium speed and beat for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until the dough pulls away form the sides of the bowl, it forms a cohesive mass, and your hear the motor straining. If there’s any loose flour on the bottom of the bowl, fold it into the rest of the dough with a silicone spatula and combine for about 15 seconds more.
Die deeg kan in die vrieskas gebere word in ‘n lugdigte houer. / The dough can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
Druk die deeg plat en rol uit in reghoeke, 5mm dik. Om die deeg maklik te hanteer kan dit tussen waspapier gerol word in plaas van meel op die oppervlakte strooi. Plaas die uitgerolde deeg in die vrieskas tot koud. / Pound the dough to flatten it and roll it into rectangles, about 5mm thick.  Roll it between parchment paper or waxed paper to avoid dusting it with flour and to make it easier to move. Refrigerate until cold.


Wanneer die deeg koud is, druk vorms uit met verskillende koekdrukkertjies. / When the dough is cold, cut it into shapes with cookie cutters and pull away the excess dough.  

Alle oorblywende deeg kan weer uitgerol word en meer vorms uitgedruk word. / Roll this dough out and cut out more cookies.


Voorverhit die oond tot 160 grade C.  Bak vir 15-20 minute, tot lig bruin. Laat afkoel in die pan. / Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C.  Bake for 15-20 minutes, until pale brown.  Let cool until set and then transfer to cooling racks.

Kan tot ‘n week in ‘n lugdigte houer gebere word. / Store tightly sealed in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
Ons het ook die koekies oulik versier, met verskillende kleure! 
We decorated the cookies with different colours too!

Vir elke kleur / For each colour:
75 g versiersuiker / icing sugar
20ml kook water / boiling water
voedsel kleursel van jou keuse / food colouring of your choice
Meng saam die versiersuiker en water.  Maak seker daar is geen klonte binne-in. / Mix well together the icing sugar and water, so there are no lumps.

Om ‘n interesante effek te skep, drup ‘n paar druppels voedselkleursel in die versiersuiker en roer liggies met die agterkant van ‘n teelepel. / To create a marbled effect, spread a few drops of food colouring in the icing with the back of a teaspoon. 

Doop die koekies met een kant in die gekleurde versiersuiker. / Dip the cookie face down in the colored icing.

Ek Hou Van Brei / I Can Knit

Hallo Almal!
‘n Rukkie terug het my mamma my geleer om te brei en dis baie lekker.
Dit was ‘n bietjie moeilik in die begin, maar toe het my mamma my mooi geleer.
Hello Everyone!
Sometime ago my mother taught me to knit and I enjoy it very much.
It was difficult in the beginning, but my Mother taught me well.
Hierdie is my eerste probeerslag.
Ek het eers geoefen met gewone wol.
Ek gaan die ou serpie gebruik vir my pop.
Here is my first try.
I practised with ordinary wool.
I will use the little scarf for my doll.
Na ‘n rukkie het ek met ‘n nuwe serpie begin, met lekker, dik, pienk wol.
Then I started a new scarf with nice thick, pink wool.

Dit is hoe dit nou al lyk. Dit is mooier as my eerste serpie, van al die oefen.
This is how far I am now.  It looks much better than my first scarf, since I had some practice.
Dit is hoe dit lyk terwyl ek brei.
Me busy knitting.
Ek sal vir julle wys as ek my serpie klaar gemaak het.
I will show you when my scarf is finish.
